Foster the City Live Scan Process

We ask our volunteers to complete the Live Scan electronic fingerprint in addition to the background check because we know that vulnerable children are targeted at a disproportionate rate by unsafe people.Ā  We want a community of highly committed adults who will help to create a wall of fire around the vulnerable kids in our community and care.

How do I complete my Live Scan?

šŸ“„ Next, you will fill out the information in the “Applicant Information” section. Bring this form with you when you go to your appointment!Ā 
šŸ“… Finally, make an appointment or find any location that takes walk ins

  • Looking for a location near you? Search for Police stations, UPS stores, private fingerprinting services or you can find locations here: California DOJ Live Scan Locations.

  • Remember to bring your ID and your live scan application
āœ… You did your part! Now it’s time for us to do ours. Your results will come through to FTC (this can take 1 day up to a week) and we’ll alert you through the app šŸ“± Please make sure your notifications are turned on šŸšØ
  • When you complete your in person live scan, there’s nothing else for you to do even if the Live Scan operator does give you an action item like sending confirmation our way.
  • We do not need proof of completion, but do recommend that you hold onto the completed form until your results are in. There have been a few instances where a Live Scan was rejected due to poor finger rolling. If this happens, you’ll need this form to refer to your ATI number.

What is the cost of a live scan?

Live scans can range from $35-$55.

FTC Vendor
  1. Visit theĀ Certifix Live Scan website to find a location nearest to you that accepts corporate billing. When searching for a location, you’ll need to adjust the filters under payment method to only include “Accepts Accounts”
  2. Print out thisĀ Account Notice flyer. If you go to your appointment without this flyer, Foster the City will not be billed. Please remember to bring this with you!
  3. Make an appointment online or call to see if they welcome walk-ins (even if their location does accept walk-ins, we recommend calling to verify first).
